Christian is an award-winning singer/songwriter, music educator and performer, with 20 years of experience in the music, theatre and education industries.
Born and raised in the UK, he studied performing arts in Liverpool and music production in London, graduating with a BA Honours degree in 2010 from the prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music. He signed a 3 year record deal with ACA UK, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group, where he released 5 commercial records as a singer/songwriter, before forming London based rock band Haydons Place.
When the band split in 2012, Christian relaunched his solo career under the stage name "Christian Tusk", signing with one of the UK's leading music labels, Young Guns Group and releasing a much anticipated debut album, which was awarded gold status for achieving over 50,000 worldwide streams and sales.
During this time, Christian also worked as a songwriter and producer for a variety of established artists, including Camilla Kerslake, District 3 and Escala. He also composed sound tracks for movies and video games, most notably the Assassin’s Creed and Deus Ex franchises.
Christian has also performed in musical theatre since the age of nine, a passion that he has continued since moving to Canada in 2016, when he was cast as Prince Eric in Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” at the Rose Theatre in Brampton. Shortly after, he signed with Premier Artists’ Management in Toronto, who represent him professionally in theatre, film and TV. He continues to perform in theatre throughout southern Ontario.
As Christian worked with more artists, he developed a love for teaching, and in 2017, founded CBY Music with his wife Karen. Their vision is to give students a comfortable "home-from-home" environment, where they can study music, theatre and performance in a creative and safe space.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Christian teaches both classical and contemporary disciplines across voice, piano and guitar, and harnesses his experience in the music and theatre industries to teach songwriting, music production and stagecraft. Having helped launch the careers of many now established artists, like Ruen Brothers, he also teaches songwriting and artistry.
A passionate practitioner of music as a therapeutic tool, Christian works closely with music students that have specific learning differences. Utilizing music play to encourage improvement in emotional, communicative and cognitive skills, he has delivered specialised and enriched musical experiences throughout the GTA with much success, demonstrated in his early years work with Suzie Sunshine, Connecting Dots and his private students.
As Christian's reputation for his engaging, student-first approach to music education grew in the GTA, he was approached by the Halton Waldorf School in Burlington to be their inaugural music teacher for their brand new high school. Tasked with writing the music curriculum for the school, he successfully developed a program that includes both the academic and applied studies of music theory, music history, songwriting, composition and ensemble performance. He led his grade 9 students in a recital concert at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre and has since directed the Grade 6 play at the elementary school.
Christian brings a wealth of experience as a performer, teacher and artist, and with his "student-first" approach to music education, consistently delivers high quality, engaging musical and theatrical experiences that breed both artistic and personal growth, as well as sought-after opportunities.
